As with all matcha, you can use it to make lattes or sweets, but please try with just matcha and hot water first!

Steps to experience the finest matcha at home as if you are at a Japanese tea ceremony!

Recommended amount for 1 cup of matcha tea

  • 2 teaspoons of matcha
  • 70ml of boiled water
  1. Sieve matcha
It is easier to prepare matcha if it is sieved in advance. You can use a tea scoop or measuring spoon to sift a cup of matcha directly into a bowl.
  2. Prepare hot water
Purified water is the most recommended. but you can also boil tap water longer to reduce the chalky smell.
  3. Make the tea!

It's highly praised in Japan!

“It tastes so good, it's as if it were made directly from a teapot.”

“I like it so much that I've bought it about 10 times over.”

“I'm the only one in my family who likes to drink matcha, so it's a hassle to get out the teapot for that...so this is perfect for me! I like it with honey, too!”

What is Kyoto Uji Matcha?

”Kyoto Uji Matcha” and “Uji Matcha” are different.

“Kyoto Uji Matcha” is matcha made only from tea leaves produced in Kyoto Prefecture.

Uji, Kyoto is the home of matcha cultivation since 16th century.  A comprehensive perspective of history, culture, geography, and weather makes Uji tea cultivation well known.

According to the Kyoto Prefecture Tea Industry Association, Uji tea is also produced in the four prefectures -  Kyoto, Nara, Shiga, and Mie, harvested and processed by a company in Kyoto.

However, only green tea harvested and produced in Uji can be branded "Kyoto Uji matcha".

Even if the tea is grown in Nara, Shiga or Mie Prefecture, plucked and processed by a Kyoto-based company, it can be only called "Uji matcha”.
