From one of the World's Three Greatest Mineral-rich Fisheries
Sweet, Rich Mussels with 100% flavour of the sea
Mussels from Japan are rare.
With the technology and collaboration with Sanriku Association, we are able to provide additive and preservative-free Sanriku mussels, distributed to fine restaurants in Japan.
It has a rich original taste of mussels, and goes very well with alcohol!
Mussels with concentrated flavour,
grown in mineral-rich Sanriku Rias Coast
Said to be one of the World's Three Greatest Mineral-rich Fisheries.
Sanriku Mussels have a concentrated flavor due to the mineral-rich spring water from the forests, that are unique to the rias coast.
In addition, salt from the open sea gives the salty taste that goes very well with dishes and alcohol.
The "World's Three Great Fisheries," is not limited to the fish and shellfish off the coast of Sanriku, but "aquaculture" - the bountiful forest and the sea, which has a value unique to the world.
Cutting-edge and unique aquaculture technology
The most distinctive feature of Sanriku mussels is the application of a unique male aquaculture technique known as "Mid-water Haenawa Method”.
A girder rope is stretched at a depth of about 2m below the sea surface, and baskets containing Sanriku mussels are hung from the rope, preventing any movement of the sea directly affecting the hanging ropes.
This "Mid-water Haenawa Method” was originally developed as a unique technique for oyster cultivation in the area, enabling to ship delicious oysters for summer raw consumption even in the summer, which is rare nationwide.
Producers efforts to grow Rare Japanese Mussels
Japanese mussels are hard to come by, and the majority of mussels served in restaurants and supermarkets are frozen mussels from overseas.
However, after the Great East Japan Earthquake, producers of Sanriku mussels began to stockpile and sell Sanriku mussels at local fishing grounds under the firm control of the unique "Mid-water Haenaw" method.
The Sanriku mussels are a new symbol of their indomitable fighting spirit and spirit of challenge, and they are proud of it.
Ensuring the perfect Sanriku Mussels,
Close feedback with consumers
By holding regular events where producers (fishermen) and consumers can directly exchange opinions, they are also making efforts to incorporate the opinions of consumers into the products they are developing.
They hope that mussels from Sanriku, together with the wishes of the many people involved, including fishermen and consumers, will be delivered to the tables not only in Miyagi but also throughout Japan and the world.
Sanriku Collection from Tohoku Region

Sanriku is famous for delicious seafood and sakes unique to the Tohoku region, a region that benefits abundantly from the vast nature, clean water, weather, rice, and other natural blessings.
This is a project to introduce the rich seafood of Sanriku, one of the world’s three major fishing grounds, to Singapore.
Focusing on premium fishes - abalone, sea urchin, salmon roe, and crab, and deliver them to Singapore along with the voices of the producers.
